Мы были не одиноки
ICYMI, here’s the first photo we have from the set of the Wheel of Time TV show. Rafe Judkins (@rafejudkins) talked about sheep and some fans (including, I admit, me) thought it was a goat. But wiser folks quickly pointed out that it’s a Jacob sheep, a visually interesting breed. .
.
It’s subtle, but it’s not a mistake or coincidence. Rafe and his team know what they’re doing. They’re putting thought into the visual aspects of the show that will only subconsciously echo with fans. A sheep like this is unusual and you could argue it would only be seen in this remote region of Robert Jordan’s world. .
.
Remember the 6-toed cats? In Winter’s Heart (book 9, ch 6), Perrin is surprised to learn that cats outside of the Two Rivers don’t have six toes. It’s a small thing that spotlights the region’s isolation. .
.
Also, remember that the Two Rivers is a remote region of refugees from at least 2 catastrophic events: the Breaking, and the fall of Manetheren. The people and animals were from modern civilizations that fell into obscurity. Expect strange and diverse creatures / people in the Two Rivers.

I also like to think it could just be a low-budget trolloc. .
